I wasn't going to comment, but you asked so I thought I would give you an answer. No, I haven't had sex with Keanu Reeves in a video game. Waiting to play Cyberpunk when it is hopefully fixed and not a shell of what we were promised.

In re: mod attaching Keanu Reeves likeness to other characters within the game: the developer is correct in their interpretation of the law - likely advised by their counsel. You cannot use another persons likeness without their permission. Surely, Keanu Reeves contract for his likeness was extensive and restrictive in scope. A mod that attaches his likeness, despite the game files perhaps being unlocked to do so, would not only likely violate his contract for use of his likeness, but could violate state statutes for use of his likeness. While this essentially applies to any person’s likeness, there have been distinctions in Court cases in various jurisdictions (States) that have opined on this issue. As Keanu Reeves likeness is a special case, a “celebrity”, whereby, as a household name most people could identify him simply by seeing his picture - as compared to a regular person - that protects his likeness from economic loss and reputation as a result of unlawful/unauthorized use. Distinctively, if you used a non celebrity likeness, while that may violate statute, there will likely not be any damages that could be proven; i.e. the likeness is not a identifiable to the person by name/identity simply by likeness on its own without any further identifying information. After all, if you cannot identify the person simply by appearance, how could the use of their image result in a loss of income or reputation to that person - by comparison, in the case of attaching Reeves likeness to a prostitute within the game that you can pay for intercourse. As modders cannot charge for their mods, they may only be subject to claims for loss of reputation for Reeves likeness in this regard. However, the publisher/developer, making these tools available for use by modders, can have significant economic exposure to Reeves for unauthorized use of his likeness, any damage to his reputation as a result, and of course for breach of any restrictions of his contract for use of his likeness. Hope that sheds some light on the actions of the developer/publisher. It was definitely the right move on the part of the publisher/developer. They should have locked out his likeness from the ini/design files to ensure modders cannot manipulate those files inconsistent with any restrictions in the actors contract with the developer. I would not be surprised if the developer/publisher took those measures at some point - especially if Reeves contract does not stipulate use beyond the storyline for purposes of modding.

I think CDPR is making an issue about the Keanu thing is them trying to get people to stop focusing hard on the game issues so they can move on. Lucasfilm making Star Wars games is a win in my book.
